This interface programs 9600 baud, 8 data bits, no parity, and 1 stop bit.
Connect with RS485
A scanner can be connected for an IBM POS terminal interface.
For further RS485 settings, refer to RS485, page 8.
Reading Techniques
The scanner has a view finder that projects a bright red aiming beam that corre-
sponds to the scanner's horizontal field of view. The aiming beam should be cen-
tered horizontally over the bar code and must highlight all the vertical bars of the
bar code. It will not read if the aiming beam is in any other direction.

Connect the appropriate interface cable to the device, then to the com-
puter.
b. Turn the terminal/computer power back on. The scanner beeps.
c. Verify the scanner operation by scanning a bar code from the
Symbols
on page 201. The scanner beeps once.
