The format for 6- and 7-level codes is similar.
It is sometimes necessary to transmit one or more fill characters. A delay time of one character
is a marking condition on the line for one character time. This can be achieved by making the
start bits, data bits, and stop bits all l's. This should also be the last character transmitted
at the end of transmitting a message.
A one-character delay for 8-level, 11-unit codes is as
follows:

The end-of-character bit is defined as the last 1-bit in the field. This must be present.
If
not, the last 1-bit of data will be interpreted as the end-of-character bit.
