Cisco 11500 Series Content Services Switch Hardware Installation Guide
1-4
Cisco Systems recommends that you leave line cards installed in the chassis.
Removing line cards greatly increases the chances of damage to the chassis
or components, and introduces the possibility that you will unintentionally
change the configuration.
Always disconnect all external cables before lifting or moving the chassis.
Two people are required to lift the CSS 11506 chassis. To prevent injury, keep
your back straight and lift with your legs, not your back.
To safely lift the CSS 11506 chassis, perform the following steps:
Stand on one side of the chassis and tell your helper to stand on the other side.
1.
Place one hand under the front or side of the chassis, and tell your helper to
2.
do the same.
With the other hand, grasp the top-rear of the chassis and carefully lift the
3.
chassis.
Follow these basic guidelines when you are working with any electrical
equipment:
Before you begin any procedures requiring access to the chassis interior,
locate the emergency power-off switch for the room in which you are
working.
Disconnect all power and external cables before installing or removing a
chassis.
Do not work alone when potentially hazardous conditions exist.
Never assume that power has been disconnected from a circuit; always check.
