Defi nition of terms
Accuracy Level
It indicates the precision of distance correction.
Accuracy Level 4 has the lowest amount of errors.
The system's internal computer automatically makes
initial settings to match the distance coeffi cient and
other properties of the vehicle in which it is mounted.
After driving for around 60 minutes, any discrepancy is
gradually eliminated, improving precision. Processing
continues, to produce ongoing improvement in
precision.
Address Book, Contact
When a landmark point or point to remember is
registered, that location can be called up immediately.
This is convenient when setting routes. The user's home
location can also be set, making it simple to set a route
for returning home.
Avoid area
If an area to avoid has been set when setting a route, the
route will be created so as to avoid that area.
Digital Map Matching
This function compares the history data for the vehicle
to the form of the road in the map data, to infer the road
being used and display position on the road on the map.
Dolby Digital
This fully discrete format divides the music signals into
5.1 channels: Front Left (L), Front Right (R), Center (C),
Left Surround (LS), Right Surround (RS) and Subwoofer
(SW: 0.1 channel) for recording and playback.
The number of channels that are recorded depends on
the software. (1 to 5.1 channels)
GPS (Global Positioning System)
This is a position detection system using satellites
launched by the US Department of Defense. Signals
are received from three or more satellites orbiting at an
altitude of 21 000km, and the signals are triangulated to
calculate the position.
Interactive DVD
An interactive DVD is DVD software which includes
multiple angles, multiple plot endings, etc.
Letterbox screen
This refers to a screen on which the playback picture
of wide-screen DVD appears with black bands running
along the top and bottom.
LPCM (Linear PCM audio)
In this format, the audio signal is converted to digital
data and recorded in two channels without compression.
Because the capacity of a DVD disc is large, it can store
more data with better accuracy than a CD.
Pan & Scan screen
This refers to a screen on which the playback picture of
wide-screen DVD is cut off at the left and right sides.
POI (Point of interest)
The positions of various points of interest stored in
the map data, such as restaurants, hotels, stations and
movie theaters.
Sensor
Internal sensors which enable the system to measure
the movement of the vehicle. These measurements are
combined with the GPS data to calculate the position of
the vehicle.
SRS CS Auto
SRS CS Auto is a positional audio system tailored for
in-car use. It converts various two-channel AV sources
to virtual 5.1ch positional audio, generating a surround
effect.
The four functions are SRS Circle Surround II, SRS
FOCUS, SRS TruBass and Mix to Rear. The system uses
four speakers to deliver an impressive positional audio
experience.
