It optimizes the track/filter/kV configuration as a function of the required image quality, and of the thickness and density of the breast being examined.

Be CAUTION sure to thoroughly clean and disinfect equipment surfaces that contact the patient and all equipment surfaces likely to become soiled during use.

A maintenance program, whose frequency varies according to the type of use of the equipment, is outlined in Table 3–1.
