RANGE SWITCHES
The range switches are two momentary contact buttons that are used
to set the operating radar range. Weather ranges can be set from 5 to
300 NM full scale. In the flight plan (FPLN) mode, ranges of 500 and
1000 NM can be set. The up arrow selects increasing ranges, and the
down arrow selects decreasing ranges. Half the selected range is
annunciated at the half–scale range mark on the PFD or MFD.
NOTE:
For dual controller installations, the weather radar range is
controlled by the on–side weather radar controller.

RCT (RAIN ECHO ATTENUATION COMPENSATION
TECHNIQUE) BUTTON
The RCT button is a toggle button that selects and deselects the RCT
mode. The RCT circuitry compensates for attenuation of the radar
signal as it passes through rainfall. The
where further compensation is not possible. Any target detected within
the
cyan
field cannot be calibrated and should be considered severe
weather. All targets in the
precipitation (magenta).
RCT is a submode of the weather mode, and selecting RCT forces the
system to preset gain. When RCT is selected, RCT is displayed on the
PFD or MFD.
3
STAB (STABILIZATION) BUTTON
Pushing the STAB button selects or deselects the stabilization function
that automatically compensates for aircraft roll and pitch maneuvers.
