The scanner has no
configuration data because it
is unable to communicate to
the controller CPU.
Possible causes include:
Scanner address switches
1.
are not correctly set.
C75 only: The C75 I/O port
2.
is connected to the wrong
Scanner 2 I/O port.
If a switch is used, there
3.
may be a problem with it.
Cables are defective or are
4.
not properly shielded.
Controller CPU is not
5.
powered.
Controller CPU and
6.
Scanner firmware versions
are incompatible.
Defective Controller CPU,
7.
Scanner, power supply, or
rack.
3
One of the following
microprocessor exceptions
occurred:
Watchdog timer timeout
Address error
Prefetch error
Data abort error
Software interrupt
Undefined instruction error

Scanner Action
Modules are not scanned and the
outputs are either at failsafe or in the
power-down state. If communication was
lost while the modules were being
scanned, then the module outputs are in
their failsafe state. If communication was
never established to the Scanner, then
the module outputs are in the power-off
state.
Scanner restarts. The main CPU detects
that the Scanner restarted, and places
the Scanner back into the scan mode.
User Action
Verify that the address
1.
switches on the scanner
are set correctly.
C75 only: Verify that the
2.
CPU A cable is connected
to the A port, and the CPU
B cable is connected to the
B port on the Scanner 2.
If a switch is used, check
3.
that all cables are properly
connected to the switch,
proper crossover cables
are used, that the switch is
powered, and it supports
100 Base-T.
Check cable shielding for
4.
proper grounding and
noise immunity.
Make sure the cables have
5.
the correct pinout.
Cycle power to the
6.
Scanner.
Cycle power to the switch.
7.
Cycle power to the
8.
controller CPU.
Replace the expansion
9.
rack's scanner module.
Ensure that the Scanner
10.
and Controller CPU
software versions are
compatible. If not, perform
a firmware upgrade.
Replace the expansion
11.
rack's power supply.
Replace the expansion
12.
rack.
Replace the main CPU.
13.
Cycling power to the scanner
will clear the diagnostic.
If the problem reoccurs, try
the following:
Ensure the system is
1.
properly grounded.
Ensure the system is
2.
properly isolated from
external noise sources.
Upgrade scanner firmware
3.
Replace scanner module
