Placing the temperature and air humidity sensor
A near the plant
Place sensor A in a position which is as representative of the
crop as possible. Please note that environmental conditions
such as sinks, rivers or shade can influence the measured re-
sults considerably. Even within greenhouses or priming ar-
eas, there are varying local conditions: A location that is as
representative of these conditions as possible should be cho-
sen.
In the app, the tab below refers to sensor A.
 If necessary, press the stake provided into the base plate
of sensor A.
 Press sensor A into the earth until the base plate contacts
the earth, or secure sensor A in the immediate vicinity of
the plants.
Assembling the transmitter
Note the permissible operating temperature and humidity
(see "Technical Data" on page 16).
The transmitter has 3 eyelets which can be used to attach it to
a suitable place.
Installing the transmitter in a field
Secure the transmitter in a field to the transmitter bracket
provided –see also figure 6, page 4.
Positioning specifications for the transmitter:
– Above the plants
– Not covered by agricultural film
– Good position for transmission and reception, e.g. above
the crest of a bank
– Protected against damage, such as from tools or agricul-
tural machinery
– Socket facing downward
 Take the protective cap off the transmitter bracket and
push the bracket into the ground.
 Open the clamp, pull the transmitter bracket out and close
the clamp again.
 Use the eye at the top to hang the transmitter on the trans-
mitter bracket and push the safety cap onto the end of the
bracket.
 Thread a cable tie through the eye at the bottom and
around the transmitter bracket.
NOTE
 Risk of damage!
Impacts on the transmitter bracket could damage the
transmitter irreparably. Remove the transmitter brack-
et extension upwards when pushing the transmitter into
the ground using the tool.
Connecting the temperature and air humidity
sensor A to the transmitter (Basic product
variant)
The connectors used for the connections have keyways and
can therefore only be connected in the correct alignment.
Field Monitoring | (22.1.19)
Lay the cables so that they are protected against mechanical
damage, such as from tools or agricultural machinery.
 Insert the connector of the transmitter cable into the
socket on the transmitter and tighten the union nut by
hand in a clockwise direction (see figure 4, page 3).
 Connect the sensor cable with the Superseal connector to
the transmitter cable.
 Seal the unused sensor connector using the cap supplied.
Position and connect the temperature and air
humidity sensor B (only for Premium product
variants) (see figures 1–3, page 2)
Sensor B can be attached to the transmitter bracket using the
openings on the side of the weatherproof casing and the cable
ties supplied.
Sensor B is connected between sensor A and the transmitter.
Lay the cables so that they are protected against mechanical
damage, such as from tools or agricultural machinery.
 Attach the sensor to the transmitter bracket.
 Use the sender cable and the Y cable to establish a con-
nection between sensor B and the sender. Then connect
sensor A via the extension cable.
Placing and connecting a soil moisture sensor
(Soil product variants)
NOTE
 This system is not intended to be used in residential
areas and cannot ensure adequate protection of radio
services in such environments. The product variants
"Basic Soil" and "Premium Soil" use the Decagon GS1 soil
moisture sensor, which intentionally generates energy in
the HF range according to the measuring principle. This is
classified according to EN 55011 in group 2 (frequency
range 9 kHz to 400 GHz), class A (use outside the resi-
dential area).
The soil moisture sensor should be placed at the roots of the
plants. The soil should be compacted to the same level as
around the roots. There should be no air pockets.
Connect the Superseal connector of the soil moisture sensor
to temperature and air humidity sensor A with the Y cable (see
figure 4, page 3).
Lay the cables so that they are protected against mechanical
damage, such as from tools or agricultural machinery.
 Connect the Superseal connector of the soil moisture
sensor to the cable of the temperature and air humidity
sensor A (see figure 4, page 3).
 Dig a hole to the same depth as the roots.
 Press the contacts of the sensor into the side of the hole.
The contacts must be positioned vertically above one
another.
 Fill in the hole again and gently compact the soil by hand.
