Changing audio
[RAM] [DVD-V] [VCD]
Remote control only
You can change the audio being received or played with the following procedure.
Preparation
Switch [DVD, TV] to "DVD".
During reception or play
Press [AUDIO] to select the audio type.
How the type changes depends on when you press the button.
ªWhile receiving a TV programme with NICAM [A]
Automatic indication of the type of sound system which the programme being watched (NICAM/
MONO) is broadcast.
≥If "NICAM OFF" is selected during manual tuning, [MONO] is always displayed.
ªWhile playing a television programme recorded on DVD-RAM [B]
If it is a recording of a stereo broadcast

ªWhile playing a DVD Video [C]
You can change the audio channel number each time you press the button. This allows you to
change things like the soundtrack language.

For your reference
≥You can also use the on-screen menu icons to change the audio type.
≥You can change the audio for the images being played with simultaneous recording and play
and Time Slip.
ªWhen you have connected the unit to other equipment with an optical digital

You cannot change the audio type when you have used only an optical digital cable for
connection.

When using DVD-R

You cannot use [AUDIO] or the on-screen menu icons to change audio type while playing or
recording with DVD-R.

You can use the SET UP menus to select which audio type is recorded, either "M1" or "M2". "M1"
is the default setting.
≥During play
V-CD
The audio type selected for recording is played. This is displayed as "LR".
