HOW YOUR AIR PURIFIER WORKS

This model air purifier incorporates a 2-stage cleaning system to help clean the air that passes through the filter in the unit (Fig. 1).
HOW YOUR AIR PURIFIER WORKS

Stage 1: Activated Carbon Pre-filter layer traps larger particles and household odors*

Stage 2: HEPA-Type filter captures up to 99% of microscopic particles, as small as 2 microns*

SET-UP

  • Select a firm, level and flat location. For best airflow, locate the unit at least 3 feet (1 M) from any wall.
  • When operating, large volumes of air are drawn toward the air purifier. Surrounding areas should be cleaned and/or vacuumed frequently to prevent build-up of dust and other contaminants. This may help prolong the life of the filter. If the unit is placed on a light colored carpet, a small mat or rug should be used underneath to prevent permanent staining. This is especially important in homes with contamination from smoking or fireplaces.

INSTALLING THE HEPA-TYPE FILTER

The Dual Action HEPA-Type Filter with integrated carbon pre-filter is supplied within the air purifier. It is wrapped to ensure purity.

  • Turn off and unplug the air purifier.
  • Turn the air purifier upside down on a flat surface.
The filter is visible from the bottom of the unit (Fig. 2).
    INSTALLING THE HEPA-TYPE FILTER
  • Remove the filter by grasping the filter from the finger notches. There are small molded tabs that secure the filter in place and prevent it from slipping out of the unit. Pull away from tabs and up to remove. When removing a used filter that is not wrapped in plastic, pull the ribbon tabs to remove.
  • Remove the protective plastic wrap from the HEPA-Type filter
  • Replace the filter in the unit with the black (activated carbon) side facing the air intake grille. The filter will be held in place in the unit with the small molded tabs. Be sure to leave the fabric ribbon accessible to facilitate easy removal next time you have to replace the filter.

OPERATION

OPERATION

  • Ensure the air purifier is plugged into a working electrical outlet
  • Turn the Power Knob to desired setting
    (O = Off, III = High, II = Medium, I = Low)
A green LED will illuminate to indicate the unit is powered "ON". the unit will start up at the high speed.
Portable air purifiers are more effective in rooms where all the doors and windows are closed. In general, it is recommended that you run your air purifier while you are at home to clean the air.

ELECTRONIC FILTER CHANGE REMINDER

This model air purifier has an electronic filter check to remind you when to replace the HEPA-Type filter based on the air purifier's hours of use. A red LED light will illuminate when it is time to change the filter.

You should periodically check the filter. Depending on operating conditions, the filter should be replaced every 4 months for best performance.

REPLACE WITH HEPA-TYPE FILTER

To Reset The Electronic Filter Check

When the filter indicator light remains on, it is time to change the HEPA-Type filter and RESET the filter monitor. With the unit powered on, press the filter reset button next to the LED filter indicator light and hold for approximately 2 seconds until the light turns off (see Fig. 3). Depending upon your individual usage (environment and hours used), you may need to replace the filter more or less frequently. Each time you replace your filter, you should re-set the filter monitor reset button.
ELECTRONIC FILTER CHANGE REMINDER

Early Reset Option

Depending on your individual usage (environment and hours used), you may wish to replace the filter BEFORE the red indicator light turns on. If this is the case, you will need to do an early RESET. To do this, press the Filter Reset button and hold for approximately 5 seconds to illuminate the red LED, then press the Filter Reset button again and hold for approximately 2 seconds until red LED light turns off. This will cause the usage cycle time to restart again for 4 months for the filter(s).

NOTE: The HEPA-Type filters are not washable. Do not immerse in water.

HOW TO REPLACE YOUR FILTER

The 99% efficient HEPA-Type filter has a built-in odor absorbing pre-filter. This Dual Action replacement filter is not cleanable, and should be replaced every 4 months to ensure optimal performance. The replacement interval is intended as a guideline only. Useful life expectancy of any filter media is dependent upon the concentration of contaminants going through the system. High concentrations of contaminants such as dust, pet dander and smoke will reduce the useful life of the filter.

See INSTALLING THE HEPA-TYPE FILTER for instructions

CLEANING AND STORAGE

We recommend that you clean the air purifier at least once every 3 months and before extended storage. Use only a dry cloth to wipe the external surfaces of the air purifier. DO NOT USE WATER, WAX POLISH, OR ANY CHEMICAL SOLUTION.

If your Air Purifier will not be used for more than 30 days, we recommend:

  • Remove the HEPA-Type Filter from the unit.
  • Place the HEPA-Type Filter in a plastic bag, seal the bag and store with the unit.

The HEPA-type filter in your air purifier was shipped with a plastic bag over it to ensure purity. Make sure the plastic bag has been removed before use.
