To Adjust the Copy Image Quality in the Black Mode

• The Black Mode setting is applied even if it is judged as black in the Auto Color mode.
• You can start with any of the procedures. But it is recommended to perform the procedures in order, as
listed below. You can perform one procedure in conjunction with another. But if this changes the image
quality more than required or loses the effectiveness of the adjustment, restore the settings made in
the previously performed procedure to the original ones. Then perform other procedures.
• Both the service technician and the user can perform procedures (1), (3) and (5).
• Only the service technician must perform procedures (2), (4), (6), (7), (8) and (9).
• If you want to copy light text written by a pencil or similar to make it darker and sharper, perform the
following adjustment together.
Refer to "2.6 To Make the Pale Area of the Original Look Darker and Sharper (To improve the highlight
reproducibility)"
(1) Press [Copy] on the [Home] screen. Press [
• To reduce faint text, increase the copy density. To reduce blurred text, reduce the copy density.
After increasing the copy density, copy and check the copy image quality.
(2) Select [05 ADJUSTMENT MODE] and change the setting values for the codes from [7114] to [7116],
[7123] to [7125], [7134], [7137], [7138], [7141] and [7160] to adjust the copy density.
• The code to use varies according to the original mode or the manual/automatic density setting. Select
the [05] code for the original mode in which the image quality is to be changed, and start the
adjustment start from the setting value "128".

• When the manual setting value of the manual density is altered while it is set in the [Basic] tab on the
control panel in copy mode, the density in the steps in all the indicators including the center value is
also changed. One step in the indicator corresponds to "20" of the setting value in [05] code.
After the setting value is changed, make a copy and confirm the image quality.
