2.4.8.1 Control Output Configurations
The D20K can have one of the following control output configurations:
• 32 Trip/Close pairs
• 24 Trip/Close and 4 Raise/Lower pairs
• 16 Trip/Close and 8 Raise/Lower pairs
• 8 Trip/Close and 12 Raise/Lower pairs
• 16 Raise/Lower pairs
• 32 Isolated Form-C contact control outputs
• 32 Isolated open-drain outputs.
Hardware and software can also be configured to provide a wide range of control output
schemes, including parallel, pulse duration, pulse trains, and latched-output applications.
Control output duration is software-adjustable from 1 to 2
on a per-point basis (protocol dependent). The D20K software also supports discrete timed/latch
relay functionality.
2.4.8.2 Interposing Relays
For applications requiring heavy-duty control ratings, the D20K can be configured with
interposing relays. A standard D20KI interposing relay panel, equipped with P&B KUEP and
KUP interposing relays (10 A at 150 V DC and 10 A at 240V AC respectively), is used in
conjunction with a D20KR termination panel. P&B KUL latch relays can also be used. See also
section 2.4.9 , Interposing Relay Panel.
Each D20KI, equipped with 16 relays, can be configured to supply 16 momentary, 8 trip/close or
8 raise/lower control outputs.
2.4.8.3 D20K Control Output Processing
The following control output processing is carried out by the D20K:
• Control Options: Individual digital outputs can be controlled immediately, or by using an
arm execute (select before execute or select before operate) handshake. The arm time-out is
programmable, on a per-system basis, to any value between 100 and 255 ms, in 1 ms
increments.
• Hardware Control Security: Several levels of hardware control security are supported:
− Single relay control
− Master trip or master close relay, used in conjunction with the select relay (higher
hardware security)
− Interposer relay protection, used in conjunction with the master and select relays (highest
hardware security)
