Conventions
In these operating instructions, the term "device" is also used to refer to the "SIMATIC
IPC677D".
The SIMATIC IPC677D consists of an operator panel with touch screen and a SIMATIC
IPC627D computer unit. In these operating instructions, you also find descriptions and
illustrations of the SIMATIC IPC627D which apply to the SIMATIC IPC677D.
"CP" is used as an abbreviation for "CP 1616 onboard" (for PROFINET) or "CP 5622" (for
PROFIBUS).
In these operating instructions, "Windows Embedded Standard" is also used as a standard
term for "Windows Embedded Standard 7". "Windows 7" is used as an abbreviation for
"Windows 7 Ultimate".
A touch device generally refers to a device with a capacitive touch screen or a resistive
touch screen. Touch screen is the general term for a capacitive multi-touch screen and
resistive single touch screen.
