If the drive fault LED is flashing, replace the hard drive. See the server maintenance and service guide.
If the drive fault LED is not flashing and the operating system supports HP Insight Diagnostics, version
7.40 or later
Run the Smart Array SCSI Diagnosis feature (on page 76).
a.
Perform the actions recommended by the diagnosis report.
b.
If the issue is still present, run the appropriate array diagnostic software (on page 77).
c.
For array diagnostic software report analysis, contact HP support

Action:
Be sure no loose connections (on page 19) exist.

Be sure no device conflict exists.

Be sure the hard drive is cabled properly and terminated if necessary.

Be sure the hard drive data cable is working by replacing it with a known functional cable.

Be sure the access panel is installed properly when the server is operating. Drives may overheat and

cause sluggish response or drive failure.

Action:

Check the hard drive LEDs to be sure they indicate normal function. For information on hard drive LEDs,

server documentation or the HP website (http://www.hp.com).
