    HAFM Server Setup and Configuration This document describes the setup and configuration requirements for the HP notebook PC to function as an HAFM server. This is to be used as a guide for configuring the PC, installing the software, installing the sliding shelf into a cabinet, and basic operation of the HAFM server application.

    HAFM Server Setup and Configuration Windows 2000 Setup and Configuration To install and operate HAFM on the HP notebook PC, Windows 2000 must be installed. Windows 2000 is not factory installed on the HP notebook PC. To install Windows 2000, use the HP System Recovery CDs that come with the PC.

Connecting the HAFM Server to a LAN You can connect the HAFM server to the single customer-supplied private corporate Ethernet LAN, with or without an HP-supplied Ethernet hub.

Select one of the Automatic Configuration options or the Manual Proxy Server option, as appropriate for the corporate LAN to which the HAFM server is connected.

No software other than HAFM and the provided antivirus software are supported on the HAFM server, including any other E-mail accounts. Select No and click Next.

Check the To connect to the Internet immediately, select this box and then click Finish option and click Finish. The Interconnection Wizard dialog box closes and Internet Explorer opens to its default home page.

    HAFM Server Setup and Configuration Setting the HAFM Server Date and Time The HAFM application’s audit and event logs are time-stamped with the date and time from the HAFM server. The switch’s system clock is synchronized with the date and time of the HAFM server by default. To set the date and time on the HAFM server, complete the following steps: 1.

The problem is logged into the support facility's tracking system for resolution.

    HAFM Server Setup and Configuration Configuring and Enabling the Proactive Services Call Home via LAN Feature The HAFM server call-home via LAN feature provides automatic event notification to a support center for reporting Director or Edge Switch problems. In order to report events, this feature requires the HAFM server to have a valid LAN connection to a SANWorks Management Appliance or other server running the HP Proactive Services software.

This enables the call home function for the HAFM server as well as for all Directors and Edge Switches that have also been enabled for call-home notification.

    HAFM Server Operation After installing and properly configuring Windows 2000, HAFM, and the Web and FTP servers, you must remove the internal CD-ROM drive from the HP notebook PC and replace it with the internal Zip drive and blank disk. Do this while the PC is powered off.

    HAFM Server Operation HAFM Services Window The HAFM Services window, shown in Figure 33, displays the operational status of the HAFM server. There are three potential states, which are represented by a graphical icon both in the window title bar and on the bottom status line of the window.

    Backing Up and Restoring the HAFM Server Backing Up Configuration Data Backup of critical HAFM configuration data is provided by a third-party application installed on the HAFM server, called Iomega QuikSync. The QuikSync application automatically mirrors the contents of the HAFMData directory on the HAFM server hard drive.
