BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Installing The Batteries

  1. Step 2. Install two "AA" batteries as shown. Be sure to Press tab to release cover. match the / signs on the batteries with the / marks inside the case.
    Note: Do Not mix new and used batteries or mix different types of batteries together.


NOTE: SPENT OR DISCHARGED BATTERIES MUST BE RECYCLED OR DISPOSED OF PROPERLY IN COMPLIANCE WITH ALL APPLICABLE LAWS. FOR DETAILED INFORMATION, CONTACT YOUR LOCAL COUNTY SOLID WASTE AUTHORITY.

PROGRAMMING THE REMOTE CONTROL

  1. Press and hold the VCR, TV, CABLE, DVD, SAT (Satellite), or AUX (Auxiliary) mode key while entering a three-digit code number. Then release the mode key.

If the code was accepted, the mode key will flash 5 times after it is released. If you entered an invalid code, the mode key will not flash. Check the code number and repeat Step 2.
The VCR, TV, Cable Box, DVD, and Satellite modes will accept only each mode's specific code type.
The AUX mode will accept all code types, but only one code at a time.
Perform Steps 1 and 2 for each piece of equipment you have. After entering each code number check the unit's operation by pressing the Power and/or Channel keys. If these keys operate your equipment, you have probably entered the correct code number for that device. If not, follow Steps 1 and 2 and enter another code, if available.
After you have programmed the remote control and confirmed its operation, enter your codes in the spaces provided below for easy reference.

  1. The CHANNEL () and VOLUME (-/+) keys become CURSOR keys when the M ENU key is pressed. This operating state remains active for 10 seconds after pressing the M ENU key or either of the CHANNEL or VOLUME keys. After 10 seconds, these keys will revert to normal channel and volume operation.
  2. Some equipment manufacturers use the CHANNEL and VOLUME keys instead of CURSOR keys to navigate through their menu sys-tems. If after pressing the M ENU key the CHANNEL and VOLUME keys do not move the cursor, wait 10 seconds then try them again. If the menu leaves the screen, press the M ENU key again, then wait 10 seconds before pressing the CHANNEL and VOLUME keys.
  1. Operations in the chart that are marked with an asterisk (*) work when the menu is displayed (after pressing the MENU key).
  2. The AUX mode can be programmed to operate a VCR, TV, DVD, Cable Box, or Satellite Receiver, but only one device at a time.
  1. Many of the keys on this remote control are multifunctional. Please refer to the chart for a generic description of the keys and their functions. Refer to your original operating manuals for specific feature operation.

OPERATING TIPS AND TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS

  • To operate each device (VCR, TV, Cable Box, DVD Player, or Satellite Receiver), you must first program the remote control; then press the proper mode key (VCR, TV, CABLE, DVD, SAT, or AUX) to select an operating mode. The VCR, TV, and DVD modes are preprogrammed with Sanyo codes.
  • Some manufacturers use many different codes. If your brand of equipment has several codes listed, try programming your remote with the different available codes until you locate the correct one for your device.
  • There may be VCRs, TVs, DVDs, Cable Converter Boxes, and SatelliteReceivers that this remote control cannot operate. Some models may operate only partially.
  • Codes will remain in memory for five minutes as you replace batteries.
  • Remove batteries from the remote control if it will not be used for amonth or more. Weak batteries may leak and damage the remote control.
  • This remote control uses an invisible (infrared) beam of light to operatethe equipment. Objects between the equipment and the remote control can block the beam of light. Therefore, the remote control must be pointed directly at the equipment you want to operate.
  • This remote control cannot add keys or features to your equipment. Your equipment's manufacturer must have originally provided them.
  • When switching from the VCR or DVD mode, the VCR/DVD specificcontrol keys will continue to operate the last device (mode) selected. For example, when switching from DVD to TV mode, the VCR/DVD control keys will continue to function as DVD keys.
  • If the remote control fails to operate any of your equipment replace thebatteries. Be sure batteries are installed correctly.
