    DSP Special Effects and Algorithms ™ DSP S HILIPS COUSTIC PECIAL FFECTS AND EAX™ Game Compatibility (Effects Tab) The Acoustic Edge uses QSound Environmental Modeling™ (QEM™) to achieve compatibility with games utilizing EAX™ 1.0 or EAX™ 2.0 properties including environmental reverb, obstruction and occlusion modeling. EAX™ is a trademark of Creative Labs.

    Select this mode when listening using headphones rather than speakers. The head- phones should be plugged into the “front” speaker jack. Selecting “Headphone” tells the sound card to use a special 3D algorithm when play- ing 3D games. Selecting “2 Speakers” will result in incorrect sound positioning when using headphones.

    S/PDIF I Enable This setting is used to enable the S/PDIF In on Philips Acoustic Edge from a digital source such as a CD-ROM or DVD drive housed in the PC or an outside device connected to the external S/PDIF cable.

To view your default selection look under “Default MIDI Device” on the MIDI tab. MIDI applications will use this default device unless they have been specially configured to use a different device.
