    4) Intended use Hearing instruments are intended to improve the hearing of hearing impaired persons. Diagnosis and prescription of a hearing instrument must be per- formed by hearing health specialists, e.g. ENT doc- tors, audiologists or acousticians. Read and follow the instructions of this user guide to avoid injuries or damage to the hearing instrument.

WARNING points out a situation that could lead to serious injuries, CAUTION indicates a situation that could lead to minor and moderate injuries. NOTICE indicates possible property NOTICE damage.

    5) General notes on safety NOTICE Your hearing instrument is sensitive to extreme heat, high humidity, strong magnetic fields (> 0.1T), X-rays and mechanical stress. Do not expose your hearing instrument to ex- treme temperature or high humidity. Do not leave it in direct sunlight. Do not wear it in the shower or when you apply make-up, perfume or aftershave, hairspray or suntan lotion.
  • Page 11 5) General notes on safety Do not place your hearing instruments in a micro- wave oven. WARNING Choking hazard posed by small parts. Keep hearing instruments, batteries and accesso- ries out of children‘s reach. If swallowed consult a physician or hospital im- mediately.
  • Page 12 5) General notes on safety NOTICE Leaking batteries damage the instrument. Remove batteries when the instrument is not in use for a prolonged period of time. Turn your hearing instrument off when not in use to preserve the battery. WARNING Risk in explosive environments, e.g.
  • Page 13 5) General notes on safety CAUTION Risk of injury caused by incorrect use of Domes and Receiver Molds. Always wear the receiver unit with Dome/ Re- ceiver Mold. Make sure that the Dome/ Receiver Mold is completely attached to the receiver unit. If the Dome/ Receiver Mold remains in your ear, have it removed by a medical professional.

  • Page 15 6) Opening the top cover Small parts can easily fall down and get lost. Work on a table. Place the Vibe body on one part of the removal tool. Place the second part of the removal tool on top of the the Vibe body.

    7) Handling batteries Use standard batteries in your hearing in- struments. Always use size 10 batteries. Original size Remove the tab on your batteries only when you are ready to use them. The positive (+) side of the batteries is always the smooth side.
  • Page 17 7) Handling batteries Low battery indicator Your Hearing Care Professional can program your hearing instruments to inform you when the battery is nearly empty. If you hear an intermittent series of beeps or experience low amplification power, replace the battery.

    9) Turning your hearing instruments on and off Turn on: Press the push button for about 3 seconds to turn the hearing instrument on. Turn off: Press the push button for about 3 seconds to turn the hearing instrument off. Listen for the acoustic signal to make sure that you turned off the hearing instrument properly.

Power-on delay Your hearing instrument is equipped with a "power- on-delay" feature which can be activated by your Hearing Care Professional.

    10) Changing the hearing program Your hearing instruments offers up to 4 hearing pro- grams for specific listening environments.

Your hearing instrument switches to the next pro- gram, confirming each change with an acoustic signal. Your Hearing Care Professional can deactivate the acoustic signals in your hearing instruments.

    11) Maintaining the hearing instrument NOTICE Do not put the hearing instru- ments in water. Your hearing instruments are highly sensitive systems. Proper care and handling will ensure the best pos- sible performance. Clean instruments and earmolds regularly to pre- vent damage to the hearing instruments and to avoid health problems.
  • Page 29 11) Maintaining the hearing instrument Clean your hearing instruments with a soft, dry tis- sue, as necessary. Thouroughly clean the top cover to avoid clogging of the microphone opening. Place your hearing instruments in a "dry aid kit" with a special moisture-attracting capsule over- night.

    13) Maintaining Domes and Receiver Molds Cerumen (ear wax) on the Domes, Grid-Domes and Receiver Molds affect sound quality. Clean Domes, Grid-Domes and Receiver Molds right after taking the hearing instruments off. This way cerumen can not dry and harden.
  • Page 35 13) Maintaining Domes and Receiver Molds Remove cerumen with a soft tissue. No other tools are required. To remove dried cerumen, moisten the soft tissue with a cerumen solvent. Dab the cerumen with the moistened tissue and wait a short period of time, this will loosen the cerumen.
  • Page 36 13) Maintaining Domes and Receiver Molds Replacing the Dome/ Grid-Dome Remove the old Dome/ Grid-Dome from the receiver. Press the tip of the Receiver Unit into the new Dome/ Grid-Dome. Ensure that the Dome/ Grid-Dome is fully attached (refer to illustration).
  • Page 37 13) Maintaining Domes and Receiver Molds If the Dome/ Grid-Dome is not mounted correctly the sound quality will be affected. If this is the case check and readjust the Dome/ Grid-Dome. CAUTION Risk of injury caused by incorrect use of Domes. Do not place the receiver into your ear without a Dome/ Receiver Mold.

  • Page 39 13) Maintaining Domes and Receiver Molds Replacing the C-Guard of the Receiver Mold Remove the C-Guard with the back side of the C-Guard tool. The C-Guard can not be re-used after the disassembling process. Insert the new C-Guard. Change the C-Guard approximately every three months, or as needed.

    14) Troubleshooting tips Your Vibe hearing instruments are reliable devices. Should a problem occur, it can usually be corrected quickly. Use these troubleshooting tips to resolve simple issues.
