Important

Read this user manual carefully before you use the appliance and save it for future

reference.

Danger

Keep the charger away from water. Do not place or store it over or near water

contained in a bathtub, washbasin, sink etc. Do not immerse the charger in

water or any other liquid. After cleaning, make sure the charger is completely dry

before you connect it to the mains.

This appliance is not a toy. Check brush heads regularly for cracks.

Cracked brush heads may present a choke hazard.

Warning

The mains cord cannot be replaced. If the mains cord is damaged, discard the

charger. Always have the charger replaced with one of the original type in order

to avoid a hazard.

If the appliance is damaged in any way (brush head, toothbrush handle and/or

charger), stop using it.

This appliance contains no serviceable parts. If the appliance is damaged, contact

the Consumer Care Centre in your country (see chapter 'Guarantee and

service').

Do not use the charger outdoors or near heated surfaces.

This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with

reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and

knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning

use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the

appliance.

Caution

If you have had oral or gum surgery in the previous 2 months, consult your

dentist before you use the toothbrush.

Consult your dentist if excessive bleeding occurs after using this toothbrush or if

bleeding continues to occur after 1 week of use.

If you have medical concerns, consult your doctor before you use the Sonicare.

The Sonicare toothbrush complies with the safety standards for electromagnetic

devices. If you have a pacemaker or other implanted device, contact your

physician or the device manufacturer of the implanted device prior to use.

This appliance has only been designed for cleaning teeth, gums and tongue. Do

not use it for any other purpose. Stop using the appliance and contact your

doctor if you experience any discomfort or pain.

Do not use other brush heads than the ones recommended by the manufacturer.

If your toothpaste contains peroxide, baking soda or other bicarbonate (common

in whitening toothpastes), thoroughly clean the brush head and the handle with

soap and water after each use. Otherwise the plastic may crack.

Do not clean brush heads, handle, charger, charger cover or interchangeable

panels in the dishwasher or a microwave.

Electromagnetic fields (EMF)

This Philips appliance complies with all standards regarding electromagnetic fields

(EMF). If handled properly and according to the instructions in this user manual, the

appliance is safe to use based on scientific evidence available today.

Preparing for use

Applying the interchangeable panel

The Sonicare For Kids comes with 3 different interchangeable panels.

Remove the adhesive backing from the panel.

Apply the panel to the white section on the front of the handle (Fig. 2).

Note: Make sure you line up the cut-out areas on the panel with the buttons on the front

of the handle.

Reapplying a panel that has been removed

Rinse the panel in warm water; you may also use a mild detergent to clean it.

Let the panel air dry.

Reapply the panel to the white section on the front of the handle.

Attaching the brush head

Align the brush head so the bristles point in the same direction as the front of

the handle. (Fig. 3)

Firmly press the brush head onto the metal shaft until it stops.

Note: There is a small gap between the brush head and the handle.

Charging the Sonicare

Put the mains plug of the charger in the wall socket.

Place the handle on the charger (Fig. 4).

, The battery charge indicator in the power on/off button flashes to indicate

that the toothbrush is charging.

, When the Sonicare is fully charged, the battery charge indicator stops flashing

and remains on.

Note: If the battery charge of the Sonicare is low, you hear 3 beeps and the battery

charge indicator flashes rapidly for 30 seconds after the brushing cycle.

Note: To keep the battery fully charged at all times, you may keep the Sonicare on the

charger when not in use. When the battery is fully charged, the charger uses a minimal

amount of energy. It takes at least 24 hours to fully charge the battery.

Tip: For extra convenience during travel, you can remove the travel charger and use it

without the charger cover.

Using the Sonicare For Kids

Brushing instructions

For children under age 8, it is recommended that a parent or adult caregiver perform

toothbrushing.

Wet the bristles and apply a small amount of toothpaste.

Place the toothbrush bristles against the teeth at a slight angle towards the

gumline (Fig. 5).

Press the power on/off button to switch on the Sonicare.

Apply light pressure to maximise Sonicare's effectiveness and let the Sonicare

toothbrush do the brushing for you.

Gently move the brush head slowly across the teeth in a small back and forth

motion so the longer bristles reach between the teeth. Continue this motion

throughout the brushing cycle.

Note: To make sure you brush evenly throughout the mouth, divide the mouth into 4

sections using the KidPacer feature (see chapter 'Features').

Begin brushing in section 1 (outside top teeth) until a tune indicates it is time

to move to section 2 (inside top teeth). At the next tune, move to section 3

(outside bottom teeth). The next tune indicates it is time to move to section 4

(inside bottom teeth). The toothbrush automatically switches off at end of the

brushing cycle (Fig. 6).

After you have completed the brushing cycle, you can spend additional

time brushing the chewing surfaces of your teeth and areas where staining

occurs. You may also brush your tongue, with the toothbrush switched on or

off, as you prefer (Fig. 7).

The Sonicare For Kids is safe to use on:

Braces (brush heads wear out sooner when used on braces)

Dental restorations (fillings, crowns, veneers)

Brushing modes

The toothbrush automatically starts in the default high mode.

Press the brushing mode button to toggle between modes. (Fig. 8)

, The green mode light indicates the selected mode.

High mode: Full-strength mode designed for older/independent brushers.

Low mode: Reduced power mode used for training and introducing younger

children to the sonic experience.

Features

KidTimer

The KidTimer plays a congratulatory tune at the end of the pre-determined

brushing time. Additionally, the KidTimer automatically switches off the Sonicare

when the brushing cycle is complete.

When in high mode, the KidTimer is set at 2 minutes.

When in low mode, the KidTimer is set at 1 minute and slowly increases to 2

minutes over time. This slow increase in brushing time helps young children reach

the dentist recommended 2 minutes of brushing.

Note: Instruct your child to brush until they hear the congratulatory tune and the

toothbrush switches off.

KidPacer

The KidPacer uses a short tune to alert the brusher to move to the next brushing

quadrant of the mouth. This ensures that the teeth get a thorough, overall clean, see

section 'Brushing instructions' in chapter 'Using the Sonicare For Kids'.

Easy-start

The Sonicare For Kids comes with the Easy-start feature activated.

The Easy-start feature gently increases the power over the first 14 brushings.

Note: Each of the first 14 brushings must be at least 1 minute in length to properly

advance through the Easy-start ramp-up cycle.

Deactivating or activating the Easy-start feature

Attach the brush head to the handle.

Place the handle in the plugged-in charger.

To deactivate Easy-start:

Press and hold the power on/off button for 2 seconds. You hear 1 beep to indicate

that the Easy-start feature has been deactivated.

To activate Easy-start:

Press and hold the power on/off button for 2 seconds. You hear 2 beeps to indicate

that the Easy-start feature has been activated.

Note: Using the Easy-start feature beyond the initial ramp-up period is not recommended

and reduces Sonicare's effectiveness in removing plaque.

Cleaning

Do not clean brush heads, handle, charger, charger cover or interchangeable

panels in the dishwasher or a microwave.

Toothbrush handle

Remove the brush head and rinse the metal shaft area with warm

water (Fig. 9).

Do not push on the rubber seal on the metal shaft with sharp objects, as this may

cause damage.

Use a damp cloth to wipe the entire surface of the handle.

Brush head

Rinse the brush head and bristles after each use (Fig. 10).

Remove the brush head from the handle and rinse the brush head connection

at least once a week with warm water (Fig. 10).

Charger

Unplug the charger before you clean it.

Use a damp cloth to wipe the surface of the charger.

Storage

If you are not going to use the Sonicare for an extended period of time, unplug

the charger, clean it and store it in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight.

You can store a brush head on the brushing head holder at the back of the

charger.

Replacement

Brush head

Replace Sonicare brush heads every 3 months to achieve optimal results.

Use only Sonicare For Kids replacement brush heads.

Environment

Do not throw away the appliance with the normal household waste at the end

of its life, but hand it in at an official collection point for recycling. By doing this,

you help to preserve the environment (Fig. 11).

The built-in rechargeable battery contains substances that may pollute the

environment. Always remove the battery before you discard and hand in the

appliance at an official collection point. Dispose of the battery at an official

collection point for batteries. If you have trouble removing the battery, you can

also take the appliance to a Philips service centre. The staff of this centre will

remove the battery for you and will dispose of it in an environmentally safe

way (Fig. 12).

Removing the rechargeable battery

Please note that this process is not reversible.

To remove the rechargeable battery, you need a flat-head (standard) screwdriver.

Observe basic safety precautions when you follow the procedure below. Be sure to

protect your eyes, hands, fingers and the surface on which you work.

To deplete the rechargeable battery of any charge, remove the handle from

the charger, switch on the Sonicare and let it run until it stops. Repeat this

step until you can no longer switch on the Sonicare.

Insert a screwdriver into the slot located in the bottom of the handle and

turn anticlockwise until you see a gap between the bottom cap and the

handle. (Fig. 13)

Insert the screwdriver into the gap and pry the bottom cap out of the

handle (Fig. 14).

Hold the handle upside down and push down on the shaft to release the

internal components of the handle (Fig. 15).

Insert the screwdriver under the circuit board, next to the battery

connections, and twist to break the connections. Remove the circuit board and

pry the battery from the plastic carrier (Fig. 16).

중요사항

소닉케어 칫솔은 국내 안전 기준에 따라 전자파 장해 검정을 받은

제품입니다. 심장 박동 보조기 등, 보조 기구를 이식 받은 경우에는

주치의나 보조 기구 제조업체에 문의하여 충분히 이해한 후

이용하십시오.

본 제품은 치아와 잇몸, 그리고 혀만 세정할 수 있도록 만들어졌으므로

다른 용도에는 사용하지 마십시오. 사용 중 불편함이나 통증이

느껴지면 제품 사용을 중단하고 의사와 상의하십시오.

제조업체에서 권장한 제품 이외의 칫솔모를 사용하지 마십시오.

사용하는 치약 성분에 과산화수소, 탄산수소나트륨, 기타 중탄산염(

미백 치약 주성분)이 포함된 경우 이용 후에 칫솔모 및 손잡이를 비누로

닦고 물로 깨끗이 씻어내십시오. 그렇지 않으면 플라스틱에 금이 갈

수도 있습니다.

칫솔모, 손잡이, 충전기, 충전기 덮개 또는 교체 가능한 패널을

식기세척기 또는 전자렌지로 세척하지 마십시오.

전자기장(EMF)

사용 전 준비

1 따뜻한 물로 패널을 헹구십시오. 순한 세제로 세척할 수도 있습니다.

2 패널을 말립니다.

3 패널을 손잡이 앞의 흰 부분에 다시 조립하십시오.

칫솔모 부착 방법

1 칫솔모가 손잡이 앞과 같은 방향이 되도록 정렬하십시오. (그림 3)

2 칫솔모를 금속 샤프트에 꼭 눌러 고정시키십시오.

참고: 칫솔모와 손잡이 사이가 약간 벌어집니다.

소닉케어 충전

1 충전기의 전원 플러그를 벽면 콘센트에 꽂으십시오.

2 충전기에 칫솔 몸체를 꽂으십시오 (그림 4).

, 전원 버튼에 있는 배터리 충전 표시등이 깜박이면 칫솔이 충전되고

있는 것입니다.

, 소닉케어가 완전히 충전되면 배터리 충전 표시등이 깜박임을 멈추고

켜진 상태로 유지됩니다.

참고: 소닉케어의 배터리 충전량이 낮은 경우, 칫솔질 후에 3번의 신호음이

울리고 배터리 충전 표시등이 30초 동안 빠르게 깜박입니다.

참고: 배터리를 항상 완전 충전 상태로 유지하려면 소닉케어를 사용하지

않을 때 충전기에 꽂아 두어야 합니다. 배터리가 완전히 충전되면 충전기는

최소량의 에너지만 사용합니다. 배터리를 완전히 충전하려면 최소 24

시간이 걸립니다.

도움말: 여행을 더욱 편안하게 즐기려면, 여행용 충전기의 덮개를 제거한

채로 사용하십시오.

어린이용 소닉케어 사용 방법

칫솔질 방법

8세 미만 어린이의 경우, 부모 또는 보호자가 칫솔질을 해 주는 것이

좋습니다.

1 칫솔모를 물에 적신후 소량의 치약을 바르십시오.

2 칫솔모를 잇몸과 치아사이에 비스듬하게(약45도) 치아에

올려놓으십시오 (그림 5).

3 전원 버튼을 눌러 소닉케어를 켜십시오.

4 소닉케어를 더욱 효과적으로 사용하려면 칫솔모를 치아에 세게

문지르지 마시고, 가볍게 미끄러지듯 사용하십시오.

5 치아를 가로질러 칫솔모를 앞 뒤로 약간씩 움직여서 칫솔모의 끝

부분이 치아 사이 사이에 닿도록 합니다. 칫솔질해야 하는 동안 이

동작을 계속 하십시오.

참고: 입 안을 골고루 칫솔질하려면, 입안을 4개의 구간으로 나누고

KidPacer(키드페이서) 기능을 사용하십시오('기능'란 참조).

6 1구간(윗니 바깥쪽)부터 칫솔질한 후 신호음이 들리면 2구간(윗니

안쪽)으로 옮기십시오. 다음 신호음에서 3구간(아랫니 바깥쪽)으로

옮기고 그 다음 신호음에서는 4구간(아랫니 안쪽)으로 옮기십시오.

칫솔은 칫솔질 종료 시에 자동으로 꺼집니다 (그림 6).

7 칫솔질 시간이 완료된 다음 추가로 어금니 및 착색 부분을 닦을 수

있습니다. 또한 칫솔의 전원을 켜거나 끈 상태에서 원하는 대로 혀를

닦을 수도 있습니다 (그림 7).

어린이용 소닉케어는 다음과 같은 경우에 사용해도 안전합니다.

치아 교정기(교정기에 사용하는 경우 칫솔모가 보다 빨리 마모될 수

있습니다.)

치아 보철물(신경치료, 크라운, 라미네이트)

세정 모드

칫솔은 일반 고속 모드에서 자동으로 시작됩니다.

1 칫솔질 모드 버튼을 눌러 모드를 전환합니다. (그림 8)

기능

KidTimer(키드타이머)

KidTimer(키드타이머)는 미리 설정한 칫솔질 시간 종료 시에 신호음이

울리도록 합니다. 또한, 칫솔질 완료 후 소닉케어가 자동으로 꺼지도록

합니다.

고속 모드에서 KidTimer(키드타이머)는 2분으로 설정되어 있습니다.

저속 모드에서는 KidTimer(키드타이머)가 1분으로 설정되고 시간이

지나면서 2분까지 서서히 증가합니다. 이러한 칫솔질 시간의 완만한

증가로 어린이들은 치과 전문의가 추천하는 2분의 칫솔질 시간에

도달할 수 있습니다.

참고: 어린이에게는 신호음이 들리고 칫솔이 꺼질 때까지 칫솔질을 하라고

가르치십시오.

KidPacer(키드페이서)

KidPacer(키드페이서)는 짧은 신호음을 사용하여, 입안을 4개의 구간으로

나누었을 때 다음 구간으로 이동해서 칫솔질할 수 있도록 알려줍니다.

이러한 기능으로 매우 깨끗한 치아를 유지할 수 있습니다. 이 기능에

참조하십시오.

이지스타트

어린이용 소닉케어에는 이지스타트 기능이 있습니다.

이지스타트 기능은 최초 14회 칫솔질하는 동안 서서히 파워를

높입니다.

참고: 이지스타트 점증 사이클이 원활히 작동하기 위해서는 최초 14회의

칫솔질 시 매번 최소 1분의 칫솔질을 하셔야 합니다.

이지스타트 기능 설정/해제 방법

1 칫솔 몸체에 칫솔모를 부착하십시오.

2 전원에 연결된 충전기에 칫솔 몸체를 꽂으십시오.

이지스타트 기능 해제:

전원 버튼을 2초 동안 누르십시오. 이지스타트 기능이 해제됨을 알리는

신호음이 1번 울립니다.

이지스타트 기능 작동:

전원 버튼을 2초 동안 누르십시오. 이지스타트 기능이 설정됨을 알리는

신호음이 2번 울립니다.

참고: 최초 점증 기간 이후에 이지스타트 기능을 사용하는 것은 소닉케어의

플라그 제거 성능을 저하시키므로 사용하지 않는 것이 좋습니다.

청소

칫솔모, 손잡이, 충전기, 충전기 덮개 또는 교체 가능한 패널을 식기세척기

또는 전자렌지로 세척하지 마십시오.

칫솔 손잡이

1 칫솔모를 제거하고 금속 샤프트 부분을 따뜻한 물로 헹굽니다 (그림 9).

손상될 수 있으므로 금속 샤프트 주위의 고무 덮개를 날카로운 물체로

누르지 마십시오.

2 손잡이의 전체 표면을 물에 적신 천으로 닦으십시오.

칫솔모

1 사용 후에는 항상 칫솔모를 물로 헹구십시오 (그림 10).

2 손잡이에서 칫솔모를 제거하고 매주 1회 칫솔모와 손잡이 사이 연결

부분을 따뜻한 물로 닦아줍니다 (그림 10).

충전기

1 청소하기 전에 항상 충전기의 전원 코드를 뽑으십시오.

2 충전기의 표면을 물에 적신 천으로 닦으십시오.

보관

소닉케어를 장기간 사용하지 않으려면 충전기의 플러그를 뽑고 청소한

다음 직사광선이 없는 건냉한 장소에 보관하십시오.

충전기 뒤쪽에 있는 칫솔모 꽂이에 칫솔모를 보관할 수 있습니다.

교체

칫솔모

최적의 결과를 얻으려면 3개월에 한 번씩 소닉케어 칫솔모로

교체하십시오.

어린이용 소닉케어의 교체용 칫솔모만 사용하십시오.

환경

수명이 다 된 제품은 일반 가정용 쓰레기와 함께 버리지 마시고 지정된

재활용 수거 장소에 버리십시오. 이런 방법으로 환경 보호에 동참하실

수 있습니다 (그림 11).

내장형 충전식 배터리에는 환경을 오염시키는 물질이 들어 있습니다.

제품을 버리기 전에 항상 배터리를 분리하거나 지정된 수거함에 버려

주십시오. 배터리는 지정된 배터리 수거함에 버리십시오. 배터리를

분리하기 어려울 경우 필립스 서비스 센터에 제품을 가져오시면

배터리를 분리하여 안전한 방법으로 폐기해 드립니다 (그림 12).

충전식 배터리를 분리하십시오

이 과정은 되돌릴 수 없습니다.

충전식 배터리를 분리하려면 일자형(표준) 드라이버가 필요합니다.

아래의 절차를 따를 때에는 기본적인 안전 주의사항을 준수하십시오. 눈,

손, 손가락 및 작업하는 바닥에 언제나 주의하십시오.

1 충전식 배터리를 제거하려면 충전기에서 손잡이를 제거하고

소닉케어를 켠 다음 멈출 때까지 작동합니다. 더 이상 소닉케어를 켤 수

없을 때까지 이 단계를 반복합니다.

2 손잡이 바닥에 있는 슬롯에 드라이버를 넣고 하단의 뚜껑과 손잡이

사이가 벌어질 때까지 시계 반대 방향으로 돌립니다. (그림 13)

3 드라이버를 틈 사이에 넣어서 손잡이에서 하단의 뚜껑을 떼어

내십시오 (그림 14).

4 손잡이를 뒤집은 채로 샤프트를 아래로 눌러 손잡이 내부 부품을

분리합니다 (그림 15).

5 배터리 연결부 옆의 회로 기판 아래로 드라이버를 넣고 비틀어서 두

연결부를 분리하십시오. 회로 기판을 제거하고 플라스틱 부분에서

배터리를 꺼내십시오 (그림 16).
