CHECKING THE BRAKE OPERATION
1. Check:
• Brake operation
Brake not working properly → Check the
brake system.
Refer to "FRONT BRAKE" on page 4-38 and
"REAR BRAKE" on page 4-51.
TIP
Drive on the road, operate the front and rear
brakes separately and check to see if the brakes
are operating properly.

CHECKING THE FRONT BRAKE PADS
The following procedure applies to all of the
brake pads.
1. Operate the brake.
2. Check:
• Front brake pad
Wear indicator grooves "a" almost disap-
peared → Replace the brake pads as a set.
Refer to "FRONT BRAKE" on page 4-38.

• Rear brake pad
Wear indicators "a" almost touch the brake
disc → Replace the brake pads and brake
pad shims as a set.

CHECKING THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL
1. Stand the vehicle on a level surface.
TIP
• Place the vehicle on the centerstand.
• Make sure the vehicle is upright.
• In order to ensure a correct reading of the
brake fluid level, make sure the top of the brake
fluid reservoir is horizontal.
2. Check:
• Brake fluid level
Below the minimum level mark "a" → Add the
specified brake fluid to the proper level.
