    Westfalia Separator Mineraloil Systems GmbH Basic operating principles Separators are used for the separation of liquid mixtures or for the separation of solids out of liquids or liquid mixtures. High centrifugal forces are produced in the rotating bowl. Fig. 9 Under the influence of the centrifugal forces, separation of the liquid mixture and/or ejection of the solids particles takes place most rapidly.

    Westfalia Separator Mineraloil Systems GmbH Corrosion Corrosion can also affect bowl parts made of stainless steel. This corrosion can be flat-spread or pit- or crack-shaped and merits special attention. Corrosion on stainless steel bowl material should be examined thoroughly and documented.
