INDUSTRY CANADA NOTICE
NOTICE:
The Industry Canada label identifies certified equipment.
This certification means that the equipment meets certain telecommunications
network protective, operational and safety requirements. The Industry Canada
does not guarantee the equipment will operate to the user's satisfacion.
Before installing this equipment, users should ensure that it is permissible to be
connected to the facilities of the local telecommunications company. The
equipment must also be installed using an acceptable method of connection. The
customer should be aware that compliance with the above conditions may not

connections of the power utility, telephone lines and internal metallic water pipe
system, if present, are connected together. This precaution may be particularly
important in rural areas.
Caution: Users should not attempt to make such connections themselves, but
should contact the appropriate electric inspection authority, or electrician, as
appropriate.
The Load Number (LN) assigned to each terminal denotes the percentage of the
total load to be connected to a telephone loop which is used by the device, to
prevent overloading. The termination on a loop may consist of any combination
of devices subject only to the requirement that the sum of the Load Numbers of
all the devices does not exceed 100.

Privacy of communications may not be ensured when using this telephone.
CAUTION
The cordless telephone operates at a frequency that may cause interference to
nearby TVs and VCRs; the base unit should not be placed near or on the top of a
TV or VCR; and, if interference is experienced, moving the cordless telephone
farther away from the TV or VCR will often reduce or eliminate the interference.
INFORMATION
This Class B digital apparatus meets all requirements of the Canadian
Interference-Causing Equipment Regulations.
NOTICE
This cordless telephone uses radio communications between the handset and the
base unit, and may not ensure privacy of communication. Other devices
including other cordless telephones may interfere with the operation of this
cordless telephone or cause noise during operation. Cordless telephones must
not cause interference to any licensed radio service.

possible 4,096 codes, during its manufacture.
Precautions
• Do not install the phone in a location near a heat source such as radiators or
airducts, or in a place subject to direct sunlight, excessive dust, moisture, rain,
mechanical vibration, or shock.
• Should any liquid or solid object fall into the phone, unplug the phone and
have it checked by qualified personnel before operating the phone any
further.
• This telephone is designed and approved for single lines only. It should not
be connected to multiple lines or a coin telephone.
If you have any question or problem concerning your telephone that is
not covered this manual, please consult the nearest Sony Service Station
authorized to service telephone terminal equipment.

Setting up the phone
Connect the base unit
If you want to hang the base unit on the wall, mount the unit first
(see "Mounting your phone on the wall").

Connect the telephone line cord to the TEL LINE jack and to a
telephone outlet.

Connect the AC power adaptor to the DC IN 9V jack and to an AC
outlet.

Fully extend the antenna. Make sure it points toward the ceiling.
Notes
• Use only the supplied AC-T56 AC power
adaptor. Do not use any other AC power
adaptor.
• Connect the AC power adaptor to a continuous
power supply.
• Place the base unit close to the AC outlet so that
you can unplug the AC power adaptor easily.
Tip
If your telephone outlet is not modular, contact your telephone service
company for assistance.
Choose the dialing mode
For the telephone to work properly, select an appropriate dialing
mode (tone or pulse).

Make a trial call with the DIAL MODE switch set to T.
If the call connects, leave the switch as is; otherwise, set to P.
NICKEL-CADMIUM BATTERY.
MUST BE DISPOSED OF PROPERLY.
Nickel-Cadmium batteries are recyclable. You can help preserve our
environment by returning your unwanted batteries to your nearest Factory
Service Center for collection, recycling or proper disposal.
Note: In some areas the disposal of nickel-cadmium batteries in
household or business trash may be prohibited.
