Ex-p control device for motor purging
To operate a motor as part of an overall system within an explosion-protected
area, further components are necessary. Not all required components are in
the scope of delivery of Bosch Rexroth. Components not available from
Bosch Rexroth are referred to as additional components and must be provi‐
ded by the manufacturer of the machine.
An overall system mainly consists of:
Bosch Rexroth devices and components

MAD/MAF motors in ATEX design
●
IndraDrive controller
●
Connection cables
Provided additional components
●
Purging equipment and monitoring unit with connection hoses, accepted
as an overall system and certified for the required protection class.

For MAF motors: External cooling system for liquid cooling. Specifica‐
tions can be found in the motor project planning manual.

For MAD motors: External cooling system (fan). Specifications can be
found in the motor project planning manual and in the following instruc‐
tions.
MAD motors for potentially explosive atmospheres must be cooled by forced
ventilation during operation. We recommend using a radial fan, which must
be mounted outside of the hazardous area

Mounting a fan directly on the motor is not permitted within explosive atmos‐
pheres. When calculating and selecting a suitable motor fan, please observe
the instructions in the project planning manual on motor cooling.
The fan, air tube and necessary small connection parts (tube
clamps, etc.) are not included in the Bosch Rexroth delivery.
The IndraDyn A motor with the explosion-protection design is merely a part of
a drive system which provides explosion protection only in combination with
an Ex p control device for motor scavenging.
The control device, which is required to safely operate the motor in an ATEX
atmosphere, does not belong to the Bosch Rexroth scope of delivery and
must be provided by the machine manufacturer.
