The description of Maintenance Manual Introduction This manual is provided as the reference material for Huawei authorized service center CDMA FWT repairing engineers. There are four chapters in this manual. The first chapter introduces FWT Principles and Parameters. In this chapter, the detail description is made for each functional module of FWT. The second chapter explains how to install/uninstall the FWT correctly.

Board TCPU Figure1-1 Hardware structure of ETS2000 series FWTs The hardware system of HUAWEI ETS2000 series wireless FWTs is composed of two boards and peripherals like keypad/LCD. The two boards are FWT central processing unit (TCPU board) and interface processing unit (PIPU board). The hardware structure of the wireless FWT is shown in Figure 1-1.

Hardware structure of the FWT Min-Board Functional Modules The hardware system of the FWTs is composed of two boards and peripherals like keypad/LCD. The two boards are FWT central processing unit (TCPU board) and interface processing unit (PIPU board). Keypad and LCD belong to purchased equipment of the FWT.

the voice coding/decoding unit is to conduct compressing and coding operations over 64K voice and digital code traffics like EVRC codes, to let them be suitable for being transmitted in wireless environment. The baseband signal processing unit mainly includes functions like baseband modulation/demodulation and channel coding/decoding.

The serial port protection module is mainly to fulfill the function of serial-port ESD protection. The R_UIM card interface circuit is mainly to contribute to the communication between CPU and R_UIM card and provide and protect the power for the R_UIM card.
  • Page 7 circuit. The dual transient suppression diode protects the serial port and prevents the damage towards the system from abnormal power level input such as ESD. Serial port signals are divided into 5 groups: Data receiving signal RS_RD (Input); Data sending signal RS_TD (Output).
  • Page 8 VDD1_RS voltage is within the range from 3 to 4.4V. If it is not, check Q209 and Q208. 2,Audio interface The ETS2000 series FWT audio interfaces include handle interface (microphone and earphone are included), speaker interface and hands-free microphone interface. Since the power of the speaker is quite high, an audio amplifier is adopted and the MIC interface and the handle interface are directly connected.
  • Page 9 Figure1-8 Handle microphone interface Figure 1-9 shows the circuit of the handle receiver interface. Bead and capacitor constitute the L-type filter circuit. Figure1-9 Handle receiver interface Possible fault of the handle channel: If the handle has problems in sending and receiving signals, check whether or not the circuit is broken at L103, L101, L105, and L106 The hands-free interface circuit is shown in Figure 1-10.

RUIM _EN Inter-board interface UIM enabling signal module VDD_ SIM of ETS2000 series FWT is powered by the power management chip on the TCPC board. • Page 15 Figure1-15 External power overvoltage protection module 2. DC/DC power module The DC/DC power module generates 4.4V main power necessary for the operation of the whole machine. It also fulfills the constant current charging function. The maximum output current is 830mA. We mainly use the PWM control chip (U302) and the switch transistor (Q301) to complete the second-time switch power circuit.
  • Page 16 Figure1-16 Power transfer circuit The PWM control chip adopts TL494, including 2 differential amplifiers, 1 external adjustable oscillator, 1 pulse comparer, 1 time overflow controller, and 1 output control circuit. The differential amplifier can work within the range from AC -0.2V to 0.2V. The time overflow controller has a fixed offset to assure the stable output in case of the changed external input.
  • Page 17 Figure1-17 TL494 3. Power supply anti-reverse-insertion circuit and external interface D305 and D301 fulfill the anti-reverse=insertion function of the external power supply. EXT_DC signal: Whether or not the external power supply exists; V_BATT signal: Battery voltage; VREG_PHONE signal: Voltage of the second-time power supply.
  • Page 18 4. Battery charging/discharging management Here, the control over battery charging is accomplished by controlling the output current of the second-time power supply. When the battery is in fast charging status, the grid of Q303 is low and is not through and the internal differential amplifier of 494 will control the pulse duty ratio of PWM, so that the output current of the switch power supply will be restricted to 830mA.
  • Page 19 Figure1-20 Second-time power voltage-limiting module 6. Short circuit protection and overvoltage protection module Q302, Q320, Q321, and D381 constitute the short circuit protection and overvoltage protection module. If short circuit happens to VREG_PHONE, Q321 will be through to trigger a circuit constituted by Q302 and Q320. As a result, the DT voltage of U302 will be improved to 5V, the U302 switch output will be closed, and Q301 will be protected.

Since RFR6120 assumes the “Zero Intermediate Frequency” structure, the radio frequency signal can be directly converted into baseband signals.
