Note that m ultiplication and division have priority to addition and subtraction. In other
words m ultiplication and division w ill occur before addition and subtraction.
Constant M ultiplication: The first number entered is the multiplicand.

Use o f parenthesis
The parentheses keys are needed to cluster together a series of operations when it is
necessary to override the prio rity system of algebra. When parentheses are in use on the
EL-512 the symbol (
) w ill appear in the display.
Calculations in parentheses have prio rity over other calculations.
Parentheses can be
used up to 15 times in a single level. Calculations w ith in the inner-most set of paren­
theses w ill be calculated first.
