Firmware update via "WinBlow"
For firmware update of PSI 6x00.xxx timer types via interface X1.
The following is needed to perform a firmware update:
• a pointed object for operating the "Boot" button (only in connection
with PSI 6x00.xxx; for position, refer to description on page 276),
• a PC with the "WinBlow" software installed,
• a suitable connection between timer and PC; refer to page 363 et
seq.) and
• the firmware as *.hex file.

Proceed as follows:
Connect a V24 interface of your PC (COM1 or COM2) to X1 on the

timer.
Start the "WinBlow" software. Select the desired language and the

V24 interface used.
Select the path and file name of the firmware.

Firmware files have the filename extension ".hex".
Click on "Backup - Load firmware - Restore" command button.

You are prompted to set the bootstrap mode on the unit.
Welding is not possible if you proceed!
Activate the boot mode of the weld timer.

Press the recessed Boot button on the front side of the timer (refer to
page 276). Thus, the unit is switched from operating to bootstrap
mode. This condition is indicated by the Boot LED above the button.
If you want to exit the bootstrap mode at this point, you have to inter
rupt the 24 V

Possibility of damage to the unit!
When the next step has been initiated, the power supply must not

be interrupted until the complete firmware has been loaded!
Confirm, if necessary, at the PC that the bootstrap mode has been

activated. The firmware is now being loaded. A bar indicates the cur
rent status of the process.
Wait until the PC signals the end of the transmission.

Interrupt the 24 V

(pull out X4), and then reinstall X4. The timer is now booted with the
new firmware.
Check the firmware version using the programming terminal (BOS).
