IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

Only use this product in countries where the appropriate authorities have given their
authorisation.
This product is classified with IP52 classification as defined in EN60529.
Please also use and refer to all documentation, which is supplied with any part(s) of
your telephone system.
1.1.
Power Supply
This product requires a 230V alternating current power supply and is not suitable for
IT-facilities as defined in the EN60-950 standard. The power can only be disconnected
from the charger by removing the AC adapter plug from the mains socket. Mains
supply is classified at dangerous voltage security level, as defined in the EN 60-950
standard.

Safety Precautions
Do not open the handset, the charger, or the charger rack. This could expose you
to high voltages. All repairs must be carried out by authorized service personnel.
Do not allow the charger and battery contacts to come into contact with conductive
items such as keys, paper clips, rings or bracelets.
Do not allow the handset and charger to come into contact with water or
chemicals.
Only use the AC adapter and battery type supplied.
Do not use an AC adapter that shows any signs of damage (breaks or cracks in

obstruction.
Do not operate the D500 handset in vehicles or in areas or rooms where there is

1.3.
Usage
This handset, like any cordless telephone, operates using radio signals, which cannot
guarantee the setup of a connection in all conditions. Therefore, you should never rely
solely upon any cordless telephone for essential communication (e.g. emergencies).

    3.4. Placing a Charger or Charging Rack 3.4.1. Charger The charger can be placed on the desktop or mounted on the wall. For wall mounting drill two holes with horizontal spacing at a distance of 45 mm. Connect the charger to the wall with two screws.

    When the charging racks are wall-mounted the chargers should be connected as follows: Connect the power supply (maximum output 5A) as indicated in the following picture, when charging racks should be coupled follow the instructions in this picture to connect the cabling correctly. When the charging rack cabling is connected plug the AC adapter plug into the 230V mains outlet.

    It is possible that the handset does not switch on immediately because the battery is low. The handset switches on automatically after a maximum of 15 minutes. 3.6. Important Battery Information The battery pack consists of a NiMh battery pack, that should not be removed by the user, this action should only be performed by authorised service personnel.

    3.9. Charge Progress Indication PHILIPS When the handset is in the charger or multicharger the charging progress is indicated by a flashing red LED on top of the handset. The charge status is also indicated in the display. Completion of the charge cycle is indicated by switching on the red LED continuously and the display will return to normal mode.

    INITIAL SETUP 4.1. Initial Setup and Operation The handset can be operated on a maximum of 10 DECT systems. Before you can make a call via a DECT system the handset has to be subscribed to the phone system. A code is necessary for the subscription process. Ask your system administrator for the code.

    The entered information can be edited in the SUBSCRIPTION EDIT menu. When the handset is not yet subscribed the default name PHILIPS is shown. After a master reset also the name PHILIPS is shown again. If the subscription was successful, the menu function will be terminated and a welcome text appears in the display.
