But, safety is your responsibility too. This page lists important information that will help to assure your enjoyment and proper use of a Video Cassette Recorder and accessory equipment.

    Note: If the remote does not work even at close range, try replacing the batteries with two fresh "AA" batteries. About the illuminated buttons: • If a button on the remote control is pressed, one of the VCR, TV and DSS buttons lights so that you know which device you are now operating.

    Note: The recording speed is automatically set to STD during D-VHS recording: You cannot select SP or EP speed. • This VCR does not record at the LP speed, but it can play cassettes that were recorded at the LP speed.

    You'll need to set the clock when first hooking up your VCR, and any time the power goes out for more than 1 hour. When you first plug in the VCR or after a power outage, the clock display will read "– – : – –".

    PRE-TUNING THE VCR TUNER Note: Your VCR is capable of receiving 68 broadcast TV channels (VHF 2 – 13, UHF 14 – 69) and cable channels (CATV 1 – 125). In some areas channels cannot be received when CATV1 is selected. In this case, select CATV2 in the receiving setup.

Wait for at least 15 seconds and then start playback.

    This lets you move through a tape that has several recordings on it by searching for the INDEX "mark". This function only works with recordings that have been set up with indexing. Your VCR will automatically create an invisible "INDEX" mark when you start recording, or when you press the PAUSE button during recording;...

    • Make sure the TV/VCR switch is set to the VCR mode. • Make sure the TV is set to the VCR channel (3 or 4) or AUX (if using direct audio/video hookup). • The VCR power must be turned off to activate timer recording.

    This system cleans the video heads automatically when a cassette is inserted and ejected or the VCR is turned on or off while a cassette is in the VCR, to prevent dirt from accumulating on the heads. Note: Mechanical sound is heard during head cleaning.
