How to Apply a Screen Protector
to GE MapSight Device
It is important to protect the touch screen of your GE MapSight device with a screen protector. The constant use of a
stylus, particularly in high use areas such as the "OK button", can cause damage or scratching of the screen which can be
prevented with a screen protector.
To avoid damage, only use the stylus that came with the GE MapSight device and a screen protector that fully covers the
screen. Replacement of the MapSight screen protector is required maintenance every three months or sooner, if receiving
excessive use.
To ensure the screen protector fits the device screen, we ask that users order the covers directly from ikeGPS or purchase
the JAVOedge brand in the appropriate size. To place orders with ikeGPS, please contact your sales representative, or send a

Instructions for applying a screen protector to your MapSight device are noted below:
Step 1 - GE MapSight Approved Screen Protector
Before opening, make sure the screen protector package is in
good condition. It should not be bent or scratched.
Each package will include:
Plastic Screen Protector
Cleaning Cloth
Installation card (to smooth out bubbles)
For best results, wash hands before installing and apply in a
dust-free environment.
Do not use any cleaning solution on the screen.

  • Page 2 Step 2 - Cleaning the MapSight Screen Clean the MapSight device screen with the dust free cloth provided and remove any fingerprints, dirt, and smudges. Step 3 - Step 3 - Removing Dust After wiping the screen, use an air-blower (as seen in the photo) or an air compressor to clear away any excess dust.
  • Page 3 Step 4 - Two Protective Films Screen protectors are shipped with a front and back protective film. They are identified with a yellow tab as #1 and #2. Step 5 - Prepping the First Film Protector When the device screen is clean and prepped, begin to slowly peel a small portion of the protective film using the tab noted as #1.
  • Page 4 Step 6 - Applying Screen Protector Place the tacky side against the MapSight LCD Screen and carefully align the screen protector to match the bottom or top edge of the display. Take care in this step to ensure the screen protector is well aligned so that it will fit the whole screen.

    Step 8 - Removing Air Bubbles Use Plastic Installation Card (included in your package) to push any trapped air bubbles to the edge of the screen. Start at the center and work towards the outer edge. Do NOT use sharp tools to remove the screen protector as this may damage the screen.
