  • Page 5: Product Description

Product Description The multi-lens of the UP watchdog offers additional co- verage zone setting possibilities. Otherwise, all units have identical functions. The UP watchdogs are passive infrared motion detectors. If a heat source is detected somewhere in the zone of coverage of the unit, the UP sensors switch on the connected lighting system.

  • Page 9: Mounting Instructions

Mounting Instructions Arrange the 10-pole connector of the UP coupler such that the desired UP watchdog mounting position can be realized (see Fig. 1). The physical address of the UP watchdog is determined via the UP coupler. Preferably, this physical address should be entered before the unit is mounted.
  • Page 10: Mounting / Dismantling

Mounting / Dismantling Before mounting the UP watchdog, correctly arrange a UP coupler (see Fig. 1, Item 8) in location suitable for the UP watchdog. • Position the UP watchdog so as to be ready for mounting. • Fix the covering frame (fig.1, item 5) in mounting position (the frame is held in position by the mounted controller).
  • Page 11 The available application variants with pertinent parameters can be seen from the current Technical ® ® Manual of the ABB i-bus EIB and ABB Powernet EIB. • Connect a PC with EIBA Tool Software (ETS2 V1.x) or Power-Project (Vers. 3.x) to the EIB bus line via an RS232 interface.
  • Page 12 Operation When the bus is energized the UP watchdog switches on the lighting system irrespective of ambient brightness. This ambient brightness level will only be detected after a period of about 1 minute. The mode of operation is selected on the unit via slide switch (Fig.
  • Page 13: Commissioning Operation

Settings on the Unit Commissioning / Operation The switching brightness or cut-out delay can be set on the back of the unit. To facilitate adjustment work an adapter has been supplied with the UP watchdog that is plugged between in UP coupler (Fig. 1, Item 8) and the connector strip (Fig.
  • Page 14 Settings on the Unit Manual Adjustment of Cutout Delay and Switching Brightness The cutout delay (rundown time) and switching brightness (ambient brightness) can be set manually or via the parameterization function (using ETS2 or Power-Project 3.x). On the back of the UP watchdog there are two setscrews (rotary potentiometers, can be deactivated via parameterization).
  • Page 15 Settings on the Unit The UP watchdog has been set in the Factory to „ Test“ and "Cutout Delay 10 sec.". During manual adjustment the setscrew scales shall ser ve for orient ation only. The exact switching brightness level and cutout delay time must be determined empirically.
