    Getting Started Step 1 Checking the package contents Make sure you have received the following items in the package. If anything is missing, contact your local Sony dealer. Telephone Handset Telephone line cords (2) Handset cord Size AA (R6) batteries (4)

    When to replace the batteries Replace the batteries when the i indicator appears on the display. Battery life: about 10 months (using Sony manganese (R6) batteries under normal operation) Note Do not take more than one minute to replace the batteries; otherwise you’ll loose all your data and settings.
  • Page 6 Step 2: Setting up the telephone (continued) When the batteries are expired • When the batteries are expired, the display is turned off, but you can make or receive calls. You can’t do any other operations. • When the batteries are expired, all your data and settings will be erased. Connect the telephone If you want to hang the telephone on the wall, see page 21.
  • Page 7 To tilt the phone If you want to tilt the phone, attach the supplied wall bracket on the bottom of the telephone. Put the four pads into the pads hollows of the wall bracket. Attach the wall bracket to the telephone.

    Step 3 Entering your area code When you use this phone for the first time, or move to an area that has a different area code, you must enter your area code. This is necessary because the phone must distinguish local or long distance calls to properly dial calls from the Caller ID list.

    Step 4 Setting the date and time If you have subscribed to the Caller ID service, the date and time are automatically set when you received a call. If you want to set the date and time manually, do as described below. Example: to set July 4, 4:53 PM (16:53) Press (PGM).

    Caller ID Features Understanding the Caller ID service Caller ID allows the caller’s phone number to be shown on the display before you answer the call. In order to use this feature, you must first subscribe to Call ID service. The name of this service may vary depending on your telephone company.
