    Intended use This Miele cleaning machine can be used to clean, rinse and chemic- ally disinfect breathing apparatus for professional use that can be re- processed by machine, such as air regulators, breathing masks and carrier frames for compressed air units. Information issued by the manufacturers of the breathing apparatus must be heeded.

    User profiles Daily operators For day-to-day use, operators must be instructed on the basic func- tions and how to load the cleaning machine and must also be trained regularly. In addition, operators must be trained in line with the na- tional requirements for reprocessing personal protective equipment, such as air regulators and breathing masks.

    Using the machine Control panel The machine is operated exclusively by the buttons located on the stainless steel surfaces either side of the display. The display is not a touch screen. A light touch on the relevant button is sufficient to operate the func- tions.

The listed menu options have to be selec- ted individually using the arrow buttons and confirmed with OK.

    Water softener Water hardness In order to achieve good cleaning results, the machine needs to oper- ate with soft water. Hard water results in the build-up of calcium de- posits on the load and in the machine. Mains water with a water hardness of 0.7 mmol/l (4 °dH) must be softened.

    Water softener Filling the salt reservoir Use only special, coarse-grained reactivation salt with a granule size of approx. 1 - 4 mm. Do not under any circumstances use other types of salt such as table salt, agricultural or gritting salt. These may contain insoluble additives which can impair the functioning of the water softener.
  • Page 29 Water softener  Never fill the container with water. The container could overflow when filled with salt. Add salt into the container until the funnel is full but still closes eas-  ily. Do not add any more than 2 kg of salt. As the salt container is being filled, displaced water (brine) may run out.

    Areas of application Breathing masks APFD 201 A 151 The APFD 201 insert combined with the A 151 lower basket carrier is intended for reprocessing breathing masks. For this, the masks are pushed onto the holders on the insert. The holders must be mounted as follows. Click the bracket into the slots on the side of the insert.

    Areas of application Adjusting the up- Height-adjustable upper baskets can be adjusted between three pos- per basket itions with 2 cm between each position to accommodate items of dif- ferent heights. To adjust the height, the brackets with rollers on the side of the upper basket and the water connector at the back of the basket have to be moved.

The collar on the coupling is pushed downwards in the process.  As soon as the collar has snapped back, the medium-pressure hose is pres- sure-tight.

The load carriers and load items must be allowed to cool down before removal. Curved hollow parts of the load items may contain residual water that could be spilt when the inserts are removed.

    Areas of application Breathing masks Remove the breathing masks and empty any remaining water into  the wash cabinet or an on-site slops basin before removing items. Follow the breathing mask manufacturer’s instructions regarding  drying, assembly and replacing wear parts. Before using the breathing masks again following reprocessing, a function check must be carried out in line with the manufacturer’s instructions.
