A 2.2m-high and 300mm-deep ETSI cabinet can house two OptiX OSN 3500 subracks The OptiX OSN 3500 subrack has fifteen slots for processing board: Slot 1 ~ Slot 8 and Slot 11 ~ Slot 16.

    Board Type With the cross-connect matrix unit as core, the OptiX OSN 3500 consists of interface unit, SDH cross-connect matrix unit, synchronous timing unit, SCC unit, overhead processing unit and auxiliary interface unit. The system architecture of the OptiX OSN 3500 is shown in Figure 2-1, and its functions and subordinate boards of respective units are shown in Table 2-1.

    Intelligent fans, with rotational speed automatically adjusted Abnormality-specific service protection 3.1.1 Protection for Processing Board The OptiX OSN 3500 provides 1:N TPS for the boards: PQ1, PQM, PL3, PD3, SPQ4 and SEP1. The E1/T1 service supports one group of 1:N (N ≤ 8) TPS.

    3.1.3 Protection for SCC unit The SCC unit of OptiX OSN 3500 is provided with 1+1 hot backup protection. The standby SCC unit is in standby working mode when the active one is in normal operation.

The software will provide a mirror protection on important memories that may affect the services. In the case the voltage is not stable, which results in memory value changes, the values can be recovered to normal.

    Interconnection (DNI) mode, ITU-T Recommendation G.842 specifies the protection scheme for interworking services in rings with different protection schemes (such as SNCP or MSP). The support of the OptiX OSN 3500 to the DNI mode fully conforms to the requirements of ITU-T Recommendation G.842.

Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol When deployed in ring network, the OptiX OSN 3500 can automatically start the Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) and logically modify the network topology to avoid network storm. Figure 4-8 shows a modified logical topology.

As shown in Figure 4-9, the system will check the Port + Vlan ID table and add the external label (Tunnel) and internal label (VC) it gets to the accessed Ethernet frames.

EPLAN/ EVPLAN Service The OptiX OSN 3500 adopts the Martini mode to provide the EPLAN/ EVPLAN and implement the multipoint-to-multipoint connection of user sites.     Management Equipment Operation and Maintenance The OptiX OSN 3500 addresses the needs of the customers for the Operation, Maintenance and Management (OAM) of the equipment in terms of cabinet, board design, and function setting. It provides the following powerful equipment maintenance capabilities.
  • Page 44 With remote maintenance function, the maintenance personnel can remotely maintain the OptiX OSN 3500 through PSTN when the equipment goes faulty. The PDH processing board provides invasion pseudo-random code test function which supports remote bit error test.
