  • Page 7 - Set the volume to a comfortable level to avoid damage to your hearing. - The CarLink is not designed to be operated for long periods of time with the car engine turned off. Using the CarLink when the car engine is turned off may drain the car battery.

    IMPORTANT! DO NOT operate the CarLink while driving. Operating the CarLink while driving may distract the driver and cause severe traffic accidents. Please park the car safely before operating the CarLink. WARNING! To prevent a flat car battery, DO NOT use the CarLink for a long period of time or charge mobile phones and tablets after the engine has been tuned off.

    The receiving range of the FM signal is generally within 40~50 km from the radio station. Since the sound of stereo FM needs to be divided into 2 channels by additional decoding, the broadcast range of stereo FM is smaller than that of mono FM. CarLink User Manual...

    3a. When prompted “Open CarLink when this USB accessory is connected?” on your phone, tick “Use by default for this accessory“, then tap Confirm. 3b. When prompted “CarLink will start capturing everything that’s displayed on your screen. ” on your phone, tick “Do not show again“, then tap Start now.
  • Page 13 CarLink will guide you in the pairing process. • Prioritize using the CarLink screen for touchscreen inputs, operating touchscreen inputs on the smartphone might disable touchscreen input mirroring. • If you encounter connection or touchscreen input mirroring issues, disconnect and reconnect the USB cable. • Log in to your account on your smartphone before connecting it to the CarLink. To protect your personal information, a black screen will be displayed on the CarLink and touchscreen input mirroring function will not be available before you log in to your account. Contact the app vendor for more information • If an external GNSS receiver is not installed, the GPS information from your smartphone will be used while navigating.     3. CarLink app The CarLink app is specially designed for the CarLink system and can only be fully utilized when your smartphone is connected to the CarLink. When your smartphone is not connected to the CarLink, you can still use the app to edit preferences and app shortcuts.

  • Page 26 Syncing contacts Follow the steps below to sync contacts from your phone to CarLink: 1. Tap Contacts. 2. Tap Start to prepare syncing. 3. Confirm the request on your phone to complete. NOTE: • If you did not confirm the request on your phone after thirty (30) seconds, the process will terminate. Please repeat step 2 to sync again.

  • Page 30 USB Music In this mode, you can connect your USB flash drive to CarLink and play .mp3 music files. 1. Select a play mode (Play mode or List mode). 2. Select a display mode (All Songs, Albums, Artist, or Genres).
  • Page 31 * MP3 audio encoding technology is authorized by Fraunhofer IIS and Thomson company. Keys on creating MP3 • Use high bit rate and sampling rate to get high quality audio effects. • VBR (Variable Bit Rate) may cause abnormal display of the playing time and audio pause. Using VBR is not recommended. • The quality of the audio may vary depending on the encoding. Please refer to the manuals of the encoding and burning softwares. NOTE: • This device does not support MP3 encoding programs. • MP3 files downloaded from different sources use different encoding softwares, therefore the playback quality (such as volume, noise, and so on) will vary. MP3: • Set the bit rate to 128 kbps above or fixed. • MP3 files with VBR (Variable Bit Rate) can be played, but complete support is not guaranteed. Using VBR is not recommended.   • Page 32 Notes on using USB Flash Drives To use a USB flash drive with media files: • Save MP3 files to the USB flash drive only. • The following problems may occur if the file formats in the USB device are not supported: - Slow access speed. - Abnormal playback sequence or failing to play some songs. • The name of the files should follow the naming rules of FAT16/FAT32 and the file system. • DO NOT use a USB extension cable, this may cause malfunction under USB mode.   • Page 33 Supported USB media devices • A USB flash drive that conforms with the USB 2.0/3.0 standard. • Card reader, hard drive, and USB Hub are not supported. • USB device with files other than .mp3 files that are converted with Apple iTunes or Sony Sonicstage are not supported. • Maximum storage size: 2GB for FAT16, 32GB for FAT32. Using USB flash drives with a capacity more than the recommended maximum storage size may cause difficulty in reading the files and affect the CarLink. • Maximum single file size: 2GB for FAT16, 4GB for FAT32. Limitation to USB media devices • Use the USB media device in environments with ambient temperatures between -5℃ and 70℃. • Shorten access time by decreasing the number of files, folders, and depth of the folders. • If there is a long access time, format the USB flash drive and copy the files to it again. • The USB flash drive might be damaged if you start the engine while the device is installed. • The player cannot recognize encoded MP3 files. • Use FAT16/32 format USB flash drives only, exFAT format is not supported. • USB flash drives without USB IF certification might not be recognized. • USB flash memory devices such as CF, SD, microSD or external hard drives cannot be recognized. • Music files that are protected by DRM (DIGITAL RIGHTS MANAGEMENT) cannot be recognized.
